PRC commissioner nabbed for extortion

MANILA – A commissioner of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has been arrested for extortion.

In a text message, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said PRC Commissioner Alfredo Po has been nabbed by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for demanding P394,000 as his commission for rentals being paid by the PRC for a leased building.

“Yes, he was entrapped by NBI for demanding P394,000.00 as his commission for the rentals being paid by PRC for a leased building,”  De Lima said.

“He will be subjected to inquest soon,” she added.

The PRC regulates and supervises the practice of the professionals who constitute the country’s highly skilled manpower. It holds regular examinations for 42 professions such as nursing, teaching, accounting, dentistry, engineering, criminology. – report from Ina Reformina, ABS-CBN News
